Ickleford won this match by just one wicket on Saturday.

On winning the toss Harpenden elected to bat. Their total of 156 was mostly due to an classy innings of 71 from M Howard. 

The innings fell away with the introduction of 17 year old George Crouch who took 6 for 39 in 10 his overs. Earlier Matt Marsden had taken 2 for 23 in his.

Ickleford's reply looked well on course at 90 for 2 18 overs. Duncan Jenner with 29 and Matt Baxter 34. However 14 year old Z Kureshi had other ideas. He bowled an excellent spell of slow bowling taking 4 for 19 in 10 overs, reducing Ickleford to 134 for 9. Only George with 27 made a significant further contribution. It was left to regular 2nd X1 skipper Sam Howard 12 not out and number 11 Luke Marsden 7 not out to see the team home with an unbroken stand of 23.

 

Next Saturday Ickleford travel up the road to local rivals and champions apparent Preston. 

 

A win at Radlett 3s gave Ickleford 2s their 3rd successive victory.

It was all largely thanks to a fine all round performance from Michael Day. He made an aggressive 56 as Ickleford capitalised on some patient to order batting to make 200-7.

Thomas Brown continued his fine form with 2 early wickets before Day did his bit with the ball finishing with 3-41 as Ickleford secured a 16 run win.

Diverting to Kings Langley's second ground with 1 hours notice, the game against West Herts 4s started 30 minutes late and was reduced to 40 overs per side. Ickleford won the toss and inserted the home team on a postage stamp sized ground. Their innings was dominated by Muddasir with an aggressive 120 not out as they reached 277-8. Webb was again the pick of the bowlers with 4-41 supported by Dalrymple with 2-30. In reply, Ickleford recovered from 50-4 with a 5th wicket partnership of 133 between Peareth (84) and Webb (45) however the ten men were bowled out for 218. Another match where one opposition player has been the difference - story of the season.
